Stephen F. Hayes has a post about how President Obama made his case for intervention in Libya by saying that turning a blind eye to atrocities there is “a betrayal of who we are.” Hayes goes on to point out how Obama seems content to allow Syrian atrocities to go unanswered despite being larger in comparison to that of Libya.
But what about the fact that liberals railed against George W. Bush in the run up to the invasion of Iraq? Where was the “betrayal of who we are” argument from Obama and democrats then? It didn’t exist. Iraq was a sovereign nation that didn’t deserve to be invaded just because Hussein (Saddam not Barack) tried to kill Bush 41.
And hell, don’t even get me started on the current hypocrisy concerning gas prices and whether or not the President and the Congress deserve any blame or not. You would have thought that Bush was turning the dials himself on gas prices when he was in office, Obama however doesn’t have a damn thing to do with it. He’s a victim of circumstance.
