Microsoft has quietly released its Copilot app on Android, iOS, and iPadOS, introducing users to its AI assistant, Copilot, previously known as Bing Chat. The app functions similarly to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, providing users with a range of features and capabilities.
With Copilot, users can now draft emails, compose stories or scripts, summarize complex texts, create personalized travel itineraries, as well as write and update job resumes, among other tasks. The app also offers the Image Creator feature, which is powered by DALL·E 3, enabling users to explore new styles and ideas, generate logo designs, create custom backgrounds, and visualize film and video storyboards.
Since its launch during the holiday season, Copilot has surpassed over 1.5 million downloads worldwide across Android and iOS. The app provides users with free access to OpenAI’s cutting-edge GPT-4 technology, while OpenAI’s GPT app charges for access to GPT-4.
The release of Copilot on mobile devices coincided with the rebranding of Bing Chat to Copilot last November. While Microsoft hasn’t made any official announcements, there is speculation that Copilot may eventually replace the Bing app.
Copilot has been available on the web for some time, but the recent mobile launch aims to expand its reach and offer it as a standalone service. Users can now harness the power of OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology directly from their smartphones and tablets, providing enhanced convenience and accessibility.
As Microsoft continues to innovate in the realm of AI assistants, Copilot represents a significant step forward in the integration of advanced natural language processing and image generation capabilities. With its versatile features and widespread availability, Copilot is set to revolutionize the way users interact with AI technology on their mobile devices.
