Former President Donald Trump is making moves in his legal battle against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Seeking to have Willis disqualified from his criminal election interference case, Trump’s bid has been accepted by the Georgia Court of Appeals for consideration.
The case stems from accusations that Trump illegally attempted to overturn his loss to President Joe Biden in Georgia’s 2020 election. Despite no trial date being set, Trump’s attorney, Steve Sadow, argues that the case should be dismissed and Willis should be disqualified due to alleged misconduct.
In a twist earlier this year, Special prosecutor Nathan Wade stepped down from the case after a ruling determined that either he or Willis must remove themselves from the prosecution. Three counts against Trump were dismissed by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, but he still faces a total of 10 criminal counts in Willis’ case.
The District Attorney’s office has declined to comment on the appeals court’s decision to hear Trump’s application to appeal McAfee’s ruling. Trump now has 10 days to file a notice of appeal.
As the legal proceedings continue, all eyes will be on the Georgia Court of Appeals to determine the next steps in this high-profile case. Stay tuned to ‘Poh Diaries’ for the latest updates on this developing story.
