CBS faced backlash after an untimely interruption during Billy Joel’s concert special, The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden – The Greatest Arena Run of All Time. The special, which aired on the network, ended two minutes early in the Eastern and Central Time Zones, cutting off the iconic ballad “Piano Man.”
The interruption was caused by a network programming timing error, leading to disappointment among Joel’s fans and viewers. CBS was quick to issue an apology to Mr. Joel, his fans, affiliated stations, and the audience for the mishap.
However, CBS has announced that due to overwhelming demand, the concert special will be rebroadcast in its entirety on April 19th at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Originally scheduled to run from 9-11 PM, the show was delayed due to coverage of the Masters golf tournament. This delay resulted in many viewers missing the climactic ending of the concert special.
Despite this setback, Billy Joel is gearing up for live performances at Madison Square Garden on April 26 and May 9. Afterward, the music legend will kick off a summer tour of baseball stadium gigs through November.
Fans who were left disappointed by the interrupted broadcast now have another chance to catch the full concert special and experience Billy Joel’s legendary performance at Madison Square Garden. Stay tuned for the rebroadcast on April 19th to relive the magic of The Greatest Arena Run of All Time.
